Celebrating the launch of Cornwall Beneath and Beyond

Authors and audience had a fantastic time on board 101-year-old Lady Daphne at Charlestown Harbour as they celebrated the launch of Cornwall Writers’ latest anthology Cornwall Beneath and Beyond.

The authors regaled the audience with readings from their stories and the inspiration that created them. We had some wonderful questions for the authors from the audience, who seemed to very much appreciate being read to for the evening. One young lady thanked the authors for reminding her of why she loved Cornwall so much.

One of our authors – a Cornish boy who’d moved up country -travelled all the way down from Watford for the event. His rendition of his story, The Cat of Camborne, was particularly well received.

We were also especially delighted to have a surprise visit from our book cover illustrator, Lucy H Smith.

Cornwall Writers are very proud of all the hard work and creativity of our wonderful authors and others involved in putting the book together.

All ticket and raffle sales for the event have gone towards the continual upkeep and maintenance of Lady Daphne, a wonderfully atmospheric venue hosted by the affable Sam and Andy. The party food and historic bar was much enjoyed throughout the evening.

Below is the only photo we have so far of all our authors together! Thank you for the photo, Kate Barden! (The front row seats were empty because the authors had been sitting in them – our audience was bigger than the number of authors!)

And, just like that, after nearly 2 years of collaborative work by 22 authors and driven by the phenomenal Tracey Dockree, the third Cornwall Anthology – Cornwall Beneath and Beyond – has been, quite fittingly, launched on board the beautiful Lady Daphne in Charlestown this evening.

12 of the authors in attendance and giving talks and readings.

This is my 4th story across all three anthologies and I’m so proud to be a part of this wonderful team of people.
Anita Hunt, author of Filling the Silence
A gorgeous evening at our Cornwall Writers book launch for our newest anthology!
Cornwall Beneath and Beyond is now out there in the big, wide world, and we celebrated tonight on the historical Lady Daphne tall ship in Charlestown, with drink, food and readings from some of our featured writers. I was so pleased to meet @illustrationbylu, our talented illustrator who designed the stunning cover as well.
Lamorna Ireland, author of After the Storm

Friday’s book launch on board the Lady Daphne in Charlestown, for Cornwall Writers’ new anthology which I designed the cover for. It was great to finally meet some of the talented writers in person and spend the evening celebrating the new book 🛟⚓️
