£2,000 Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction 2024

Entries to the £2,000 Edinburgh Award for Flash Fiction 2024 is open for writers worldwide – Deadline 31 August 2024

Open to writers worldwide, published and unpublished. The chief judge, celebrated flash fiction mentor, early flash influencer Meg Pokrass, is looking for the most imaginative, beautiful, emotionally powerful and hilarious stories that can be packed into 250 words.

Big Prizes! Flash stories welcome from writers around the world. We are excited to find out who will win that £2,000 first prize, which is one of the biggest awards for flash fiction.

Writers may enter as many times as they wish. The entry fee is £10 per story. 

Managed by the Scottish Arts Trust. 2024 marks their tenth anniversary. All funds raised are used to create innovative opportunities where the arts connect – connecting audiences and creatives across Scotland and from around the world.

Published Anthology! In addition to cash prizes, an offer of publication in the 2025 anthology.

The Golden Hare Award for Scottish Flash Fiction is given to the top story entered by a writer living in Scotland, published or unpublished, who has not previously won any of our other prizes. With a prize of £500, everyone living in Scotland will be considered for the Golden Hare as well as other awards.

The Write Mango Flash Award is specialist award within the competition that celebrates those bizarre, quirky stories that can sometimes leave us laughing out loud. The Write Mango winner receives £300 plus the fabulous mango award sculpture. Enter the Edinburgh Flash Fiction Award and tick the Write Mango box.
