Edinburgh Writing Awards provide opportunities for fiction and non-fiction writers and graphic novelists worldwide. They’ve added new awards, expanded opportunities for free entry, included options for feedback and more.
All proceeds are used to support the arts in Scotland.
Edinburgh Short Story Award
£3,000 first prize. Entries open now for writers worldwide and stories on any topic up to 2,000 words. Additional awards for unpublished writers and most amusing/bizarre story. Publication for top twenty stories in The Edinburgh Anthology. Entry fee: £11. Feedback on your story option available. Bursaries for free entry available for talented under-represented writers – bursary applications close 10 December. Deadline for paid entries 28 February. Edinburgh Young Adult Novel Award
£1,500 first prize. Entries open now for writers and illustrators worldwide and novels/graphic novels suitable for readers age 12 and older. All genres welcome -comedy, romance, drama, horror, queer, realist, speculative fiction and more. All longlisted entries reviewed by LBA Literary Agency. Incomplete novels/graphic novels accepted. Edinburgh Essay Award
£1,000 first prize. Publication for top fifteen entries in our new journal: The Edinburgh Essays. Open to non-fiction writers worldwide. We welcome cultural features, memoirs, travelogues, philosophical reflections, historic or contemporary analyses and more up to 2,000 words (excluding title and captions).
